The Supply Chain Initiative Is Currently Pursuing A New Air-To-Sea Cargo Route Over Alaska, As Argued For Earlier, As Part Of Its Broader Strategy, Which Is Currently Being Implemented

As reported by KTUU, the Anchorage Daily News, the city of Anchorage is in the process of revitalizing its downtown area. A news conference was held at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport to officially establish the Anchorage Pacific Air-to-Sea Service. Those involved have already begun working on their first contract as a result of the event.

There are a number of organizations advocating for more freight traffic through the city of Anchorage. These include the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, the Anchorage Airport, Matson, and Saltchuk, among other organizations.

According to Saltchuk Alaska Senior Vice President David Karp, since the announcement in the fourth quarter, a number of “quite exciting talks” have taken place among company executives. Regarding the general public’s interest in the project, Karp adds, “I’d say there has been a great deal of curiosity.” However, this is a time-consuming technique, as you may imagine.”

Karp noted in his statement that the group is requesting that cargo owners and logistics specialists join ANC PASS so that they can begin executing the strategy as soon as it is completed.
